As the summer high season approaches, a new guide has mapped out 28 stunning beaches in Brazil’s Northeast, spanning all nine states of the region. The itinerary covers a wide spectrum of destinations, from bustling hubs with extensive hotel infrastructure to secluded havens with minimal commerce.

Some destinations, such as Porto de Galinhas in Pernambuco and Taipu de Fora in Bahia, are famed for their breathtaking natural pools that form during low tide. Visitors hoping to observe the vibrant marine life in these spots are advised to check the tide tables in advance.

Elsewhere along the coast, dramatic cliffs take center stage, as seen in Morro Branco in Ceará, 90 kilometers from Fortaleza, and at Praia do Gunga in Alagoas. At the latter, ATV tours offer a thrilling way to explore the rock formations right at the water’s edge.

Accommodations for Every Type of Traveler

For those seeking the comfort of resorts, the Muro Alto region in Pernambuco and Praia do Forte in Bahia are home to large-scale hotel complexes. Notable options include the Nannai Muro Alto and the Tivoli Ecoresort Praia do Forte.

In contrast, locations like Praia do Patacho in Alagoas and Ponta do Corumbau in Bahia offer a tranquil escape, characterized by the absence of beach vendors and major construction. These destinations are sought after by visitors who prefer a more serene, less crowded atmosphere.

The pristine archipelago of Fernando de Noronha (PE) is featured with three must-see locations: Baía do Sancho, Baía dos Porcos, and Baía do Sueste. Access to Baía do Sancho is via a unique staircase set between rock formations, while Baía do Sueste is a renowned spot for snorkeling alongside sea turtles.

The list also includes gems like Praia do Madeiro in Rio Grande do Norte, accessible by a long staircase, and Atins in Maranhão, which serves as a gateway to exploring the otherworldly landscapes of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.
