The government’s itinerary includes destinations that hold the prestigious title of World Heritage Site, granted by the United Nations system. Official records point to three pivotal dates of international designation:
- Ouro Preto, in the state of Minas Gerais, officially designated in 1980.
- Olinda, in the state of Pernambuco, recognized in 1982.
- Brasília, in the Federal District, added to the list in 1987.
